Show Me Negros

Our work is a collaboration of known and artistic effort, the visual art of painting and the profound feeling of appreciation. We deliberately combine the intrinsic worth of each to come up with what we define as "graphic article" in quest for refining views and illuminating our audience of how beautiful and rich the island of Negros is.

The concept of "Show Me Negros" was thought of since all four of us: Anna May, Armilina, Wency and I, grew up in this province. Flaking the various images we had in mind and picking out subjects distinct to Negros were somehow effortless as they were derived from chips of childhood memories; some were learned in school while others are part of the landscape we still see every day. We came up with more than twenty five art pieces on varied supports using watercolors and acrylics, each depicting our different painting styles. As we were getting on with it, we felt a deep sense of connection to Negros' past, present and future, grateful to bear witness to the vastness of its natural resources and its unique habitants, proud to show the world the exquisite beauty that is always within our reach. - Mache Belangel de la Torre
